What is mesothelioma or asbestos lung cancer ?

It may seem like something exotic, but mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer. It occurs on the outer surface of the lungs and is usually associated with exposure to asbestos. Therefore, it is often called asbestos lung cancer. There have been a few cases where it has been observed in people who had never been exposed to asbestos. It can also be attributed to irradiation and inhalation of certain fibrous silicates. Mesothelial cells are cells that surround all of our organs, and it is in these that mesothelioma cancer occurs. There are different types of cells: mesothlial epitheliod, sacromatoid and biphasic. If one or more cancer thereof may be present in different combinations.

Epitheliod cells are the most common of the three cancer cells. They make up 70% of cells in malignant mesothelioma. This type of cell has an appearance in the form of cubes and as a group, they appear in a uniform layout and tubular. biphasic mesothelioma cells are less frequent, they make up 30% of mesothelioma cells and are a combination of the other two types. Biphasic cells often occur when the other two types of cells are already present in a tumor. The presence of sarcomatoid is generally rare. In some cases, mesothelioma can also occur from benign and non-malignant cells. It is usually rare, however. In addition, this type of mesothelioma cancer can be treated surgically.Symptoms vary from shortness of breath, coughing and chest pain. This happens because of the accumulated in the pleural cavity of the lungs liquid. Other symptoms include fatigue, anemia, wheezing, or blood in the sputum or coughed out fluid. If it happens to an extreme case, the tumor may be present, which can cause the lung to collapse. Or distribute parts of cancer elsewhere in the body. Signs and symptoms usually appear long after the actual exposure, usually twenty to fifty years after exposure to asbestos.
